How the standard was validated

The standard was formally validated through the SWIFT Space Workforce Advisory Committee on October 8, 2026. Industry representatives participating in the validation vote included Blue Origin, CesiumAstro and Firefly Aerospace.

Participation in the validation process reflects review of the shared occupational standard and should not be interpreted as endorsement of a particular school, curriculum, training provider or credential.

Validation vote participants

  • Blue Origin
  • CesiumAstro
  • Firefly Aerospace

What Validation Means

A vote in favor confirmed that the standard accurately reflects shared entry-level expectations across participating space-manufacturing employers.

The standard does not mean that every competency applies equally to every employer, facility or position. It is not a curriculum, certification, accreditation or guarantee of employment.

Using the Standard

The standard is available at no cost to employers, educators and workforce partners for:

  • CTE and postsecondary program alignment
  • Curriculum and skills-gap analysis
  • Capstone and work-based learning development
  • Credential and assessment planning
  • Entry-level job and apprenticeship pathway development

SWIFT is currently developing an employer-informed Electronics Technician capstone challenge for high school CTE programs. Challenge materials will be released separately after technical development, industry validation and classroom-readiness review are complete.
